Anorak
Anorak was formed in 2004 with me on bass, Jared Goldman on guitar, and Matt Abeysekera on keys and drums. Josh Schultz joined the band early in 2005 on drums. Vocals were shared with Matt doing most of the lead vocals. We played our first show in late 2005 at East River Bar in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We continued playing shows regularly at such venues as Lit, Piano's, Asterisk and Monkeytown. In 2006, Anorak was reconfigured as a three-piece with Jared becoming very busy with film productions. The three piece still had Josh on drums and rotating instruments between Matt and myself, depending on the song (usually Matt on keys and me on bass). The band went on to have shows at Cakeshop, Southpaw and Glasslands, amongst others. Our last show was in January 2007. Soon afterwards, the band had a friendly split-up so we could all work on other projects.
Matt is creating music scores for film. His website is Bromeliad Music.
Josh plays drums with the band Traveling Circle.
Like the Sasquatch, Anorak has left little video evidence -- only three short clips taken with a digital camera (these were the days before Iphones, folks) from a show at the now-closed Monkeytown in Brooklyn. This is one of them.

Although we spent a lot of time together, there aren't that many polished recordings of 'Rak tunes. The best of them was a track called "Crystal Voyager." It was included on the compilation Presence Under the Tree, released by Attacknine Records. You can actually still buy this track on Itunes if you search for that comp title (although we never received any money from it).
Crystal Voyager
There are a handful of other rough demos existing:
Pines (live)
This is a live recording from a show at Southpaw in Brooklyn
The below recordings are from the 4-person era of Anorak
Electric Laser
One in Five
I'm doing keys and lead vocals on this one. Matt was on guitar, backing vocals and drums.
Break of Day
I wasn't going to include this one because of my reservations about my vocals. Listening to it again, though, it's pretty solid aside from a few bum notes. It sounds better than I remember. This was one of my tunes. I'm doing lead vox/guitar. Jared rocking the melodica/bass combo. Matt's backing vocals make this track, in my opinion.
Stellar Dragon (instrumental version)
This is a recording of a song that was not finished with vocals (the song had vocals - we didn't get a chance to record them). It is too bad because I think that the track sounds really good otherwise. I'm doing rhythm guitar in this one.
Posters
One of the best elements of Anorak was that we had incredible posters designed and illustrated by the very talented Erin Klauk.
